Who we are

UN-POLAC was established as an International autonomous institution in 2001 with the UN and UNESCO following General Assembly resolution, declaring 2001 – 2010 as a decade of peace and non-violence.

UN-POLAC’s mandate is to enhance the effectiveness of the UN Sustainable development goals and UNESCO Culture of Peace Programme particularly the maintenance of peace and security and the restoration of human dignity.

UN-POLAC is a global organisation seeking world peace through individual participation as peace advocates and the involvements of Governments, NGO’s, agencies, corporate bodies and countries of the world to embark on ways and means of achieving global peace.

UN-POLAC has, as its name implies two main functions: TRAINING and RESEARCH

Mission Statement

  • To appoint volunteers to assist in implementing the United Nations SDGs, promote the UNESCO culture of peace, and advocate for unity and love within families and communities.
  • To foster unity and serve as peace advocates through peaceful mediation and conflict resolution in crisis areas.
  • To assist in the enhancement of peace education, meet humanitarian needs and promote international understanding through positive living
  • Providing an enabling environment for the seamless sharing of knowledge and information.
  • Strengthening and expanding peace collaboration around the world.
  • To defend human rights and restore dignity to all persons.

Vision

Aims and Objectives

  • To appoint individuals as Volunteers to assist in the implementation of United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) now Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and also to promote UNESCO Culture of Peace Programme.
  • To foster unity, love, peace and harmony among and between members and the public.
  • To assist in enhancement of Peace education in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Industries and places of worship and constant gathering for the purpose of using the knowledge in humanitarian services.
  • To impact ethical and leadership knowledge in youths and organizing leadership training courses, seminars, conferences, camp meetings, workshops etc.
  • To promote international friendship by organizing exchange programmes and encouraging peace services and operations with other similar bodies in the world.
  • To reach out to corporate bodies, religious organisations, NGOs, schools, society and other well-meaning bodies with the purpose of assisting the government in realizing peace.
  • To collaborate with International and Non-governmental Organizations including the UNITED NATIONS and its agencies e.g WHO, UNESCO, UNDP, ILO, UNICEF and AFRICAN UNION, ECOWAS, UN PEACE KEEPERS, IFAS (International First Aid Society) on matters relating to Peace, First Aid, health, Youth Education, Youth Development, Civics and Poverty Alleviation.
  • To source for funds and grants from donor agencies, government and international communities to compliment the organization’s fund for the execution of projects in different needy parts of the world.
  • To give First Aid to the needy in times of peace and war.
  • To encourage and develop the spirit of humanitarian services in people especially the Adults and Youths by establishing formations of the organization in approved institutions, strategic positions and places.
  • To establish peace clubs in villages, cities, towns, schools and religious places to worship of worship and to use such clubs to teach Peace and First Aid principle and practice, plus tenets of good health, thereby helping the larger organization.
  • To organize seminars, workshops and monitor election to facilitate good governance and effective democracy.
